There
are lots of ways you can join in with The Oldland Players, and we are particularly looking for backstage members at the moment.
Acting
We
cast our productions in late August/early September for the November production
and January/February for the Spring/Summer production, but please contact us and come
along anytime. Map
Backstage Crew
Always in demand! Unlike
the actors the backstage crew don't need casting so even if you turn up
just a
week before a production you'll still end up being asked to help out.
This way
you get to play a part in the performance without suffering stage
fright. And
you still get to enjoy the social life so why not
contact us. The Crew get involved with scenery construction
and set building, lighting and sound,
props, costumes, so there's plenty
of scope whatever your talents! We also need volunteers Front of House,
so there's plenty of scope to get involved, whatever your talents!
Patrons
If
you prefer to watch and support the group, but would also like to
enjoy our social activities then you can become a patron. Our
patrons get a great deal! For an annual subscription of £15 (£25 for a couple) each patron receives a discounted
ticket to each of our two main productions. You'll be invited to apply for
tickets ahead of the public so, if you're quick, you get the best seats in the
house. In addition, you are kept up to date with all our news by way of our
occasional newsletter.
We
are always pleased to see our patrons at our social events and put on
occasional gala evenings especially as a thank you for their support.
To become a patron, either enquire at one of our
productions or contact
us now if you just can't wait.
Social
In
those times when we're not tearing our hair out over the latest
production, we try to slot in some social events. Perhaps a trip to
other amateur productions or to the Bristol or Bath theatres. Barbeques
and summer get-togethers also feature.
And
running right through the year is our participation in the local Skittles
league. We play every week in the Oldland Village league, which is played at
the Village Club.
We thought long and hard on a name for the team - something which sums
us up
neatly. And, of course, it could only be "The Luvvies", led by
excellent skittles player and eternal optimist, Jill Lawford.
