Synopsis
Effie, who has lived in mental institutions since the age of thirteen, has been admitted to hospital with severe burns. Treating her is Dr Ruth Kovacs, who finds in Effie's extraordinary story of injustice and official callousness the key to her own suppressed anger and power. Taut and powerful, tender and often funny, Effie's Burning is an emotional switchback of a play, with a searing anger at its heart.

'Tom Jones'

Synopsis
Tom, Squire Allworthy's adopted son, falls victim to the charms of one rustic wench after another, until at last the Squire grows tired of the trouble he causes and sends him off to cause it elsewhere. Then Tom becomes entangled with three women at once: Jenny Waters, a lady of warm heart and generous virtue, Mrs Fitzpatrick, a society lady seeking diversion from her oafish husband, and Sophia Western, whom Tom truly loves.

'Two for the Tango'

Synopsis
Set in the roaring 20s, a time when people were keen to put the great War behind them, servants were still the norm and the financial turmoil of the 19J0s was yet to come. In some ways it was a carefree world and Two for the Tango is peopled by some wonderful characters. From a dizzy American showgirl to a scheming Head Waiter; from a harridan mother to a maiden lady of a nervous disposition. There’s also a string-collecting son and a model daughter who is just waiting to break the mould, plus a couple of people who look remarkably like them.

How much does one necessarily know about one’s wife or husband? Or best friend? SECRETS examines the nightmare scenario that befalls a woman whose husband works for “the government” and who disappears one day. Is Hannah’s husband a traitor to his country? A spy? Can those emotive words really apply to someone so apparently close to her? Can she survive her own ordeal at the hands of the courteous and delicately mannered Felix Bennett, who appears out of the blue on her doorstep? Will she see her husband again? And if so, will he now be the same person she said goodbye to a few short weeks ago when he set off for “a conference” in Germany? SECRETS looks at human trust and love when placed on a precipice
