The Oldland Players are delighted to be performing again at The Bristol One Act Drama Festival, and The Avon Short Play Festival, this year with just a single entry "Daisy Markham" by Janice Sampson.

Fiercely independent 102-year-old Daisy refuses help from the authorities until Social Worker Jenny arrives on the scene. Their relationship develops fruitfully when they discover a surprising connection with Daisy's traumatic younger days.

The first performance was held at The Olympus Theatre in Bristol, on Saturday 1st March at 7pm, as part of the Bristol One Act Drama Festival. Although we did not win any awards, this was a successful evening especially for Ev Milker, who came away with a nomination for Best director on her directorial debut, which was brilliant. Elsewhere, our actresses battled not only against the other groups, but also a disruptive drumbeat, courtesy of the 'Bristol Flyers', who had a match that night. In spite of this, both Kit and Lisa came away with nominations for their respective roles, and we also got a nod for the set.

So the detailed results were as follows:

The Chris Jaeger Award for the Best Director: Ev Milker (Nomination)

Best Actress: Kit Muffett (Nomination)

Best Actress: Lisa Stapleton (Nomination)

Les Solomon Decor Award (Set): Oldland Players (Nomination)

The second performance was held at Chipping Sodbury as part of the Avon Short Play Festival,  on Friday 7th March 7.30pm.

Again, we didn't win any awards, but again we came away with a couple of nominations, including for Ev repeating her excellent nomination on her directorial debut.

The detailed results were as follows:

Priory Plate - Best Actress: Kit Muffett (Nomination)

Best Director Cup: Ev Milker (Nomination)

Thank you to everyone who was able to come and support us. We hope to see you at our main show in June.
