Synopsis

Robert and Freda Caplan are entertaining guests at their country retreat. A chance remark by one of the guests ignites a series of devastating revelations, revealing a hitherto undiscovered tangle of clandestine relationships and dark secrets, the disclosures of which have tragic consequences.

Synopsis

A police station in the early 1960s and women police officers are starting to play a bigger part. New recruit Jill Colman is taken under the wings of Sergeant Helen Carter and kindly probation officer Mrs Oliver. Chief Superintendent Horrocks of the C.I.D. believes that women should not be in the police service. But when a gunman escapes from prison he is forced to use a policewoman to help with his capture.
